West District Long Course @ EK

A nineteen strong Lanark ASC squad were back in action in the West District Long Course Championships held at East Kilbride.

The Lanark swimmers were in fine form bringing back no fewer than 11 District Medals.

In the 13 years age group Euan McCleod won his first West District title when he swept to victory in the 200m butterfly and for good measure picked up a bronze in the 100m butterfly. In the youngest age group Ayla Miller and Justin Bone made their West District debuts and also won medals. Justin was 2nd in the 400m freestyle and 3rd in the 200m butterfly whilst Ayla was second in the 200m butterfly.

Twelve year old Millie McArthur won two silver medals; 400m freestyle and 400m IM and was third in the 200m butterfly. Heather Stevenson (15) was third in the 400m IM as was Erin Snow in the sixteen and over 100m breaststroke. Mitchell Stevenson was second in the 200m butterfly in the same age group.

Abbigail McArthur, Mia Rae and Shiona McClafferty also secured points scoring top 6 finishes. District debutants Helena Ramage and Abbie Barnstaple all set new personal best marks as did Ellarose Stewart, Jessie Gilchrist, Anya McLaughlin, Sandy Barr, Cameron Bruce and Caitlyn Hamilton.

After the Meet coach Karen Kelly said “ It was a rewarding Meet for the Club with some excellent performances, the standout being Euan’s first district title in the 200m fly. The four youngsters swimming at District level for the first time did Lanark ASC proud. A strong commitment to training should yield more success at competitions in the forthcoming weeks”
