Coach's report... SCOTTISH NATIONAL OPEN WATER CHAMPIONSHIPS - LOCH VENACHAR

Loch Venachar was the venue for the penultimate Open Water Meet of the season; the Scottish National Open Water Championships.

Lanark ASC's Justin Bone, Millie McArthur and Abbigail McArthur fresh from their GB open water debuts at Rotherham were in action.

Justin has been unbeaten in Scottish waters all season and he once again was first past the post in the 11/12 years age group winning the Scottish 1km title in a close fought race by two seconds. Abbigail McArthur competing in the 5km picked up a well deserved bronze while sister Millie enduring competing in the afternoon rain was 4th in the 13 years 2km event.

Coach Karen Kelly commented. "Well done to all three. It was Justin's first National title. A big thank you to all the volunteers who ensured this competition went ahead. On the Saturday afternoon the rain came down but the Open Water swimmers are a different breed and gamely swam on. The final Open Water event is the West District Champions at Loch Ken at the end of August."
