Coach's report - East Kilbride ASC short course Meet & Alloa ASC Meet at the Peak in Stirling

Lanark ASC returned to Larkhall once again for the second East Kilbride ASC short course Meet of 2020.

Millie McArhtur (14/15) won the 50m backstroke, 100m backstroke and the 100m freestyle. Sister Abbigail (16&o) was first in the 200m backstroke and second in the 100m backstroke. In the same age group Caitlyn Hamilton was third in the 50m backstroke. The boys were not to be outdone with three of them also bringing home medals. Alistair Dunsmore (16&o) won gold in the 100m breaststroke and Euan McLeod (14/15) was first in the 100m butterfly, second in the 50m butterfly and won a bronze in the 50m freestyle. Cameron Bruce won silver behind team mate Euan in the 100m butterfly.

It was the chance for the younger members of the Club to shine when 23 swimmers age under 12 competed at the Alloa ASC Meet at the Peak in Stirling.

In the 8/10 years age group Evi Mackie won five from five to win best girl in her age category. In the same age group, there was a 5th and 6th place medal for Calum MacDonald (50m breaststroke and 100m IM). Charlie Barnstaple was 5th in the 50m butterfly.

The 11/12 years boys saw Justin Bone win three golds, 2 bronze and a 6th place while Craig Shaw won the 100m breaststroke. Samantha Pratt was 6th in 50m freestyle.

After the Meets Coach Karen Kelly commented “There was some excellent swimming from Lanark in both Meets. The swimmers set 86 new personal bests which was fine return for their efforts.”
